Events

The Foundation holds yearly events, including seminars and conferences where prominent academics present findings of their research on health related issues for educational purposes and dissemination of reports. Conferences were held in 2008, 2012, 2015, 2016 and seminars in other years. The seminars are normally presented by overseas experts as part of our program of providing information on the new and effective methods in suicide prevention and other public health related issues. Events for the year 2022 will include the FNQ Suicide Prevention Week of activities, the All of Us Festival during Queensland Mental Health Week, Life Suicide Awareness & Prevention Workshops and Mental Health First Aid Courses.

Together We Are Making A Difference

Support from the community is fundamental to the Foundation’s future, as it is in constant need of funds to support its ongoing activities. It is often left to the private sector to underpin the work of charitable organisations, and indeed without this help most organisations would not be able to function.

The Foundation is no exception and relies strongly on the generosity of corporations, service clubs and individual donors. To this end, the Foundation has forged links with many corporations and community groups in the region to ensure optimal organisational strength and effective communication in its fundraising efforts.

Significant funds though donor development activities, annual fundraising events and corporate sponsorships have been instrumental in sustaining the Foundation through the last 25 years. Annual fundraising events are:

The Simply Ballroom Dance School

The 4CA/FM Rotary Corporate Duck Race

Rotary Charity Wine Auction

Projects requiring funding

We understand that a corporation or organisation may wish to specifically fund, or part-fund, a particular project. We are seeking funding for the following:

Reprinting of vital suicide prevention taskforce resources

Life Suicide Prevention Workshops delivery

The FNQ Suicide Prevention Week

The Backyard Makeover Program

More details on each project can be obtained by emailing admin@kochfoundation.org.au.

A contributing factor to our successful fundraising in that the Foundation has low overheads and all money raised by the Foundation remains in North Queensland. The Foundation is a deductible gift recipient, which means that all donations to the Foundation are tax deductible. Donations, corporate sponsorships and bequests, whether great or small, are valuable and important to the Foundation.
