Celebrating Queensland Mental Health Week

CONCERT PROGRAM

Hosted by the Dr Edward Koch Foundation’s FNQ Suicide Prevention Taskforce,
the Festival aims to promote mental health & wellbeing awareness,
in an all-inclusive, diverse, multicultural, family friendly event!
Sunday 8th October 2023, 1 – 8 pm
Fogarty Park, Cairns

Featuring:
  • Mental health & wellbeing expo: showcasing resources from around the FNQ region
  • Move For Mental Health: Walk along the Esplanade advocating for mental health, arriving at the Festival
  • Live entertainment: a full line up of local music and dance acts. Check out the Program here.
  • Family fun: activities for kids including face painting, giant outdoor games and a low-sensory space
  • Food Trucks: A melting pot of local multicultural food vendors
  • Market stalls: an eclectic mix of local vendors

The Rotary Cairns Sunrise Club is a dedicated group of community leaders working tirelessly to make a positive impact in the Cairns region. With a strong commitment to service, the club undertakes a variety of projects to benefit the local community. Their initiatives encompass areas such as education, health, environment, and social welfare. In the realm of education, the club supports schools by providing learning resources, scholarships, and mentoring programs to foster the growth of young minds. They actively collaborate with educational institutions to improve literacy and academic outcomes for students. Concerning health, the Rotary Cairns Sunrise Club organizes health campaigns, awareness drives, and fundraising events to support medical research and improve access to healthcare services for underserved populations. For the environment, the club engages in tree planting, beach cleanups, and conservation efforts to preserve the region’s natural beauty and biodiversity. Additionally, the club plays a pivotal role in providing assistance to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, refugees, and individuals facing economic hardship. Their ongoing commitment to community service truly exemplifies the Rotary motto: “Service Above Self.”

All funds raised by the Festival aid the Backyard Makeover Program.  
The Backyard Makeover Program is a Cairns District volunteer project that aims to improve mental, social and physical outcomes for isolated residents requiring assistance with a small makeover of their backyard.
