The Living Strong Program is a weight management and healthy lifestyle program targeting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in rural remote and urban communities. The program was developed by the Tropical Public Health Unit nutrition teams in Cairns and Townsville as a primary prevention intervention to address the high incidence of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases among North Queensland indigenous adults.

The innovative and largely visual resources accompanying the program are designed to assist indigenous health workers to implement the program at a community level through a series of weekly activity based workshops and ongoing monthly individual measurement screenings.

The Dr Edward Koch Foundation has taken over the sales, distribution and reproduction of the resource kit for the Living Strong Program. Money received will be utilised for further public health activities.
